King Ahaziah once sent messengers to ask an idol whether he will die of his sickness or recover -2 Kings 1. The Lord sent Prophet Elijah to intercept them and ask is there no God in Israel? Those days alternative sources of knowledge were few. You could not Google anything up. You could not post it your Facebook page to get some responses from friends. There were not many professionals around for you to seek a second or third opinion. If you had an issue you consulted your god. Your case was sorted depending on who your god is. You lived or died according to whom you hearkened unto [listened to]. It is still the same today.

Is there no God in Israel ? What a pregnant question. It is one of those questions you really don’t need to answer because the answer is within it. On one hand the prophet is asking why they’d seek medical opinion from others if there was a God in Israel. On the other hand, the prophet is saying we have a God who can and wants to be consulted. A God who is open to being asked. Who has an opinion and something to say about every matter, yet you walk past Him. So King Ahaziah died of his sickness. But he did not need to, because there was a God in Israel.

Is there a God in your Israel? This same God is still in the consultancy business today. His company slogan is ‘Ask of me’.  He is wiser than the wisest in any profession because the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men- 1 Cor 1:25. What man can do best, God can do better. He gives the best advice that money cannot buy. So whatever situation is taking you round in circles, God already has an opinion on it. Just stop in your tracks and declare I have a God in Israel, I shall ask of Him.
